WHAT:
Dear InSLA member,
As it turns out, October has been strategic planning month for InSLA.
Many of your colleagues have participated in two strategic planning
workshops for the chapter this month. Please help me in thanking all of
the participants: Sylvia Andrews, Shelley Arvin, Joyce Beard, Lisa Greer
Douglass, Zoya Golban, Randall Halverson, Beth Hansen, Stacy Lai, Miriam
Lemen, Barbara Maxwell, Nancy Michael, Cindy Monnier, Bob Noel, Jane
Potee, and Ellen Summers.
Our facilitator Susan Schlag guided us through both three-hour workshops.
With her leadership and with much commitment and consideration on the part
of these strategists, we have developed a mission statement for our
chapter.
Chapter Mission:
The Indiana chapter of the Special Libraries Association is a vital,
networked community of the state's librarians and information
professionals that develops member's competencies and thereby optimizes
the value of the profession.
HOW:
With mission statement in hand, we are now ready to take the next step
- to define and prioritize the objectives for the chapter. This will be
the fun part! We will discuss what we are going to do and by when.
Topics for discussion include administration, communication, finance,
membership, programming and service.
WHO:
The entire InSLA membership is encouraged to attend.
WHEN:
Wish us luck as we tackle this next step! Or better yet, join us for our
third and final workshop on Thursday, October 30 at 5:00! (Costumes
optional!)
WHERE:
We will meet in the Marion County Law Library in the City-County Building.
The Marion County Law Library located on the 3rd floor of the City-County
Building, 200 E Washington St, Suite T360 in downtown Indianapolis. Be
sure to allow time for the extra security and metal detectors at the
City-County Building. Metered parking is available on Alabama and there
are two $5-dollar parking lots on the corner of Market and Alabama.
After 6 pm, downtown street parking is free. Please grab dinner on the
way.
