2005 Spring Business Meeting for New Officer and Winery Tour

Join your InSLA colleagues for our Spring Business Meeting to elect our new officers, find out what's in store for later this year, participate in a lively group discussion, enjoy a winery tour, a nice dinner and a good glass of wine at Indiana own Easley Winery!

Date: Thursday, May 5, 2005.

Fee: $20.00 for members, $15.00 for students, $25.00 for non-members. Payment can be made (cash or check) at the door.

Time: 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Location & Parking Information: Easley Winery, 205 North College Avenue, Indianapolis. If you need a map, please let me know and I will email or fax it to you. Free parking is available in the winery parking lot, adjacent to the building.

Menu: Rosemary crusted pork tenderloin; freshly baked breads, mixed green salad, oven-roasted potatoes, vegetables and a selection of desserts.

Meeting Agenda:

• 6:00 -6:30 registration and champagne welcome; appetizers will also be served
• 6:30-7:15 tour of winery and wine tasting
• 7:15-7:45 dinner and business meeting
• 7:30 presentation to InSLA award winners, Jody Perkins and Beth Whipple
• 7:45-8:45 roundtable discussion NEW

I would like to do something different during our business meeting. Please bring your thinking caps and good ideas to discuss the following with your fellow librarians:

1. Thoughts on the future of our profession; challenges we face?
2. Thoughts on SLA National and the chapter?
3. How to attract new blood to the profession?
4. Tips for maintaining a work/life-outside-of-work balance?
5. Does a "generation gap" exist in librarianship and how do we deal with it?
6. How to deal with the volume of email we get?
7. Tips for putting together a new library and tracking items for collection development.
8. What else can you suggest as a topic?

I envision this to be informal, but thought-provoking for all.

Please send your RSVP to Lisa Greer Douglass NO LATER than Monday, May 2nd. Your RSVP is needed so the catering service is adequately prepared for us. If you cannot attend after making your RSVP, you may be billed for the meeting fee as InSLA will be charged for your meal. Your understanding is most appreciated.
